Duties

  • Sort and load articles into washers or direct other workers to perform loading.
  • Start washers and dryers and regulate machine processes, detergent, water, bleach, and other additives.
  • Remove items from washers and dryers and keep loads moving efficiently.
  • Sort, count, fold, and wrap clean items according to requirements.
  • Use color stickers to identify clean item sizes.
  • Record inventory and notify management when machines need professional repair.
  • Sort articles before cleaning by fabric, color, cleaning technique, or soil level.

Requirements

  • No minimum education requirement.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • No driver’s license required.
  • Near public transportation.
  • Applicants must communicate with Career Center staff before a referral can be made.
  • Applicants must possess documentation needed for employment verification requirements under IRCA.

Employment Terms

  • The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due.
  • Workers will be paid bi-weekly on Thursday by check or direct deposit.
  • The employer will provide all tools, supplies, and equipment required at no charge.
  • The employer guarantees work for at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
  • Employer-provided transportation will be furnished at no charge and will comply with applicable federal, state, and local law.
  • Workers are responsible for obtaining and preparing their own food.
  • Employer does not provide lodging, but will assist workers in finding lodging.
